  • October 2022- State-owned China State Construction Engineering Corporation (China State Construction) acquired a series of large-scale residential construction and infrastructure projects. The ten projects have a total value of CNY 33.89 billion (USD 4.89 billion).
  • October 2022- Fluor Corporation was awarded two reimbursable engineering, procurement, and construction management contracts by BASF for the ethylene oxide/ethylene glycol and infrastructure, offsites, and utility packages as part of the company’s new Verbund program in Zhanjiang, Guangdong province, China. The contract value to Fluor is more than USD 2 billion and was booked in the third quarter of 2022.

  • December 2022: The acquisition of DPS, one of the top consulting, engineering, and construction management firms for life sciences and semiconductor facilities, has been finalized by Arcadis, the leading worldwide design and advisory organization for natural and built assets. Through this acquisition, Arcadis will gain 2,850 more employees, establish a dominant position in the high-growth, hi-tech industrial manufacturing facilities industries, and provide clients with an integrated full-service offering.
  • October 2022: Construction of Dhaka's 31.24 km MRT Line 1, Bangladesh's first metro, is due to start in December 2022. A contract for project construction monitoring services has been signed by the Dhaka Mass Rapid Transit Business (DMTCL), the metro project's executing agency, and a Japanese joint venture company led by Nippon Koei. The consortium also includes Oriental Consultants Global, Systra, Delhi Metro Rail, Nippon Koei India, Katahira and Engineers International, Development Design Consultants, and Nippon Koei Bangladesh.
  • February 2022: The construction arm of Larsen & Toubro has secured an order from the Bangladesh Hitech Park authority to construct Hi-Tech IT Parks at eight locations (two packages at four locations each) across Bangladesh. This project is being funded by the Indian EXIM Bank and is the first IT & Office Space order that L&T has secured in Bangladesh. The primary scope of work for the project comprises the procurement and construction of seven-storied structural steel buildings at all eight locations with BUA of 1.2 million square feet, including civil, finishes, façade, and electromechanical works with LEED Gold rating. The scope includes heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), lift, electrical, fire fighting systems, public health engineering, networking & security systems, building management systems, site development, road, boundary wall, landscaping, arboriculture, etc. The project locations are in the Rangpur, Natore, Jamalpur, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Gopalganj, and Barishal districts of Bangladesh. The project is scheduled to be completed within stringent timelines.

April 2022: Walters Inc. has been awarded the structural building contract for an electric arc steelmaking facility (EAF) by Algoma Steel Group Inc. (Algoma). Algoma is a leading Canadian producer of hot and cold rolled steel sheet and plate products. Walters will be responsible for fabricating and erecting the main building structure and the necessary dust collection hoods.

  • October 2022: Nigeria's Lagos state government plans to start construction of a new airport in the Lekki-Epe region. The new airport facility will cover an area of ​​3,500 hectares, and construction work is expected to begin next year.
  • March 2022: Four Algerian and Chinese firms signed a deal worth nearly USD 7 billion to develop an integrated phosphates project (PPI) in Algeria. The agreement was signed by Algerian firms Manal and Asmidal, a subsidiary of Algerian energy firm Sonatrach, with Chinese firms Wuhuan Engineering and Tian’An Chemical, a nitrogen and phosphate fertilizer production company.

This partnership is anticipated to explore how current and emerging robotics technologies can address key challenges in the construction sector, including productivity, labor shortages, and safety.

April, 2022: Thiess, a CIMIC Group company, entered into a business cooperation agreement to provide mine design and engineering services to Tata Steel. As part of the deal, Thiess is expected to work with Tata Steel to provide competitive integrated business solutions to the global mining industry. Tata Steel is one of the world's most geographically diverse steel producers, offering a fully integrated steel business from mining to manufacturing to finished product marketing.

  • October 2022: ERG Developments in the New Administrative Capital (NAC) has begun construction on the residential complex Ri8 for an estimated 3.5 billion Egyptian pounds. The 25-acre Ri8 Compound is part of Zawya Projects, which will be built in three phases and includes 34 residential structures with 1,063 units.
  • November 2022: Orascom Construction PLC announced that it had joined forces exclusively with COBOD, a Denmark-based company, to introduce cutting-edge 3D Printing Construction ("3DPC") technology to Egypt for the first time. Three business areas will get most of the partnership's attention: project completion, equipment sales, and operation and maintenance. The partnership will also look into ways to use 3DPC technology to print whole buildings on the Egyptian market.

  • September 2022: Sembcorp Industries, an energy and urban development company with its headquarters in Singapore will sell Tanweer Infrastructure Pte. Ltd. of Oman a 100% stake in its Indian subsidiary, Sembcorp Energy India Ltd. (SEIL). An Omani group managed by Oman Investment Corporation S.A.O.C. owns Tanweer Infrastructure Pte. Ltd. Dar Investment SPC, Oman, and the Ministry of Defence Pension Fund are the other members of this group.
  • July 2022: Veolia and TotalEnergies (NYSE: TTE, LSE: TTE, Paris: TTE) have agreed to begin building one of Oman's largest solar photovoltaic (PV) systems to power a desalination plant in the city of Sur. On the site of the Sharqiyah Desalination Plant, a landmark in Oman and the Gulf area that provides drinking water to more than 600,000 Sharqiyah residents, the power plant will be built.
