  • June 2022: Mitsubishi Corporation (MC) and Maruha Nichiro Corporation (Maruha Nichiro) announced an agreement to establish a new joint venture company, ATLAND Corporation (ATLAND), that specializes in the land -based production of salmon.
  • June 2022: Seafood Connection Holding B.V. (Seacon), a subsidiary of Maruha Nichiro Corporation, has acquired 100% shares of Northcoast Seafoods Ltd. With this acquisition, Northcoast becomes a member of the Maruha Nichiro Group.
  • March 2022: Thai Union Group formed a partnership with the Sustainable Fisheries Partnership (SFP) to promote supply chain transparency and examine wider ecological consequences. The partnership with SFP is dedicated to creating a responsible seafood business to ensure healthy marine and aquatic environments and a secure seafood supply.

  • February 2023: NEX-XOS introduced OBAR by OMEALS, a versatile daily bar that can serve as a meal replacement or nutrition bar. NEX-XOS specializes in producing shelf-stable foods and providing contract packaging, assembly, and distribution services. The OBAR daily bars offered by NEX-XOS are nutrient-dense, plant-based, allergen-free, gluten-free, and non-GMO.
  • January 2023: The Good Flour Corp. planned to develop "Patty Cakes" which are claimed to be gluten- and allergen-free protein pancake mixes designed especially for children.
  • January 2022: Schar, a German company, has recently introduced three new gluten-free options for customers that can be conveniently stored on shelves. These products include a vegan pizza crust with ready-to-add toppings and baked lactose-free baguettes that are ready-to-eat and chocolate-coated crispy twin bars. These offerings were made available in Canada through both online and offline channels.
  • December 2021: Queen Street Bakery, a gluten-free bakery, and wholesaler, launched new gluten-free bagels in Canada. These bagels were made available in two flavors: sweet cinnamon raisin bagel and savory chia and flax bagel.
  • April 2023: Swiss food giant Nestlé announced the launch of its two new vegan chocolate chips under its Toll House brand. These chips are claimed to be dairy-free and were launched to meet the demand for plant-based products.
  • February 2023: Hindustan Unilever Ltd (HUL) announced the launch of its new chocolate flavor Millet Horlicks in Tamil Nadu. The company claims that Millet Horlicks in chocolate flavor is HUL's first product with super-grain which contains multi-millets like Finger Millet (Ragi), Sorghum (Jowar), Foxtail Millet (Kanngani) and Pearl Millet (Bajra) and these multi-millets are claimed to be a natural source of calcium, iron, protein, and fiber.
  • January 2023: Cocos Organic announced the launch of a series of new products, including the United Kingdom’s first Organic Coconut Milk Yog Tubes and a brand-new Light Organic Natural Yoghurt. Further, the company claims that Organic Coconut Milk Yog Tubes are dairy-free, gluten-free, free from nuts and refined sugar, and designed for kids over six months old. While their Cocos Organic range is claimed to be organic, all-natural, made from whole ingredients, and free from dairy, lactose, gluten, and soya.
  • December 2022: Nutri Plus announced the launch of its new product, namely, 'Tiffin Plus' snack for children. The company claims that the snack contains 15 % of children's daily nutritional requirements per packet. As a part of the launch, Care Nutrition has introduced three products under its Nutri Plus brand, including Tiffin+ Fortified Orange Chocolate, Tiffin+ Fortified Malai Chocolate, and Tiffin+ Fortified Chocolate.
  • July 2022: Laird Superfood entered the fortified snack category with the launch of its new plant-based protein bar. The protein bar is made from peas, hemp seeds, pumpkin seeds, dietary fibers, and all the essential amino acids.
  • June 2022: Cocos Organic, owned by Met Foods, launched a dairy-free, gut-friendly yogurt substitute that is enriched with Bifidobacterium BB-12. The product is named Light Natural and is marketed as being "fully functional and live, prepared with 96% organic coconut milk and fortified with live bacteria strains.
  • April 2023: Atkins announced the launch of its new bar flavors. Atkins' new bar product launch includes Atkins Endulge Almond Craze Bar, Atkins Chocolate Caramel Pretzel Snack Bar, and Atkins Crunchalicious Bar.
  • February 2023: Nature Foodtech, a Brazilian company, announced the launch of its innovative product, "Date Bar with Collagen" at Gulfood, the biggest food and beverage show in the Middle East, Dubai. The company claims that the dates used in the bars are imported from the United Arab Emirates, from the brand Al Foah. Further, the product is made available in three flavors, including semi-sweet chocolate, cookies and cream, and strawberry.
  • January 2023: Grenade and Oreo announced the launch of their co-branded protein bar. The company asserts that the newly developed product contains 21 g of protein and only 1 g of sugar. It has been made available for purchase on Grenade's website.
  • December 2022: Snickers, which is part of Mars, Inc., announced the launch of its Snickers Hi Protein bars, a brand-new performance nutrition bar. The company claims that the product features the same satisfying chocolate, caramel, and peanut ingredients identical to Snickers, but this new product is packed with 20 g of protein, offering the nutritional profile that consumers expect.
  • April 2022: Quest announced the launch of mini versions of its flagship protein bars. The product offering under this category includes new flavors such as chocolate chip cookie dough and cookies & cream flavors. Further, Quest protein bar products are made available through online retail channels in UAE.
  • October 2021: TNF, a New Zealand-based snack bar company, launched its fruit bar in the United Arab Emirates. The fruit bar contains 100% fresh pulp instead of concentrate. TNF Fruit Bars are vegan and vegetarian, gluten-free, dairy-free, and nut-free, and contain no preservatives, additives, or colorants. TNF Fruit Bars are available in three variants: strawberry, apricot, and raspberry.
  • August 2021: Emirates Snack Foods (ESF) and Hershey have formed a partnership to expand Hershey's portfolio and develop products to expand the snacking market in the region.
  • July 2022: Rice noodle brand Foodle Noodle launched its first clean-label instant cup noodles range in Thailand with all organic ingredients.
  • May 2022: Symington's instant noodle brand Naked added a vegetarian and vegan pot trio in Asian flavours.
  • August 2021: Momofuku launched its own brand of "cleaner" instant noodles. The move comes as the renowned Japanese restaurant group transformed its business model post-pandemic.
  • In March 2023, South Korea Lotte Confectionery Co. announced its rebranding with the name of Lotte Wellfood as part of further global expansion. The company supplies sweets, chocolates, biscuits, and snacks and the market expansion will further help the company grow.
  • In August 2022, Mars Inc. announced a collaboration with BTS to launch limited-edition chocolate bars. The bars were packaged in the K-pop group’s signature purple color along with text branding referencing the septet’s hits, including “Life Goes On,” “Make It Right,” “I’m Fine,” “Spring Day,” “Good Day,” “Save Me,” “Never Mind” and “For You.”

  • Mar 2022: In the United Arab Emirates, Barry Callebaut introduced its Cacao Barry line of whole-fruit chocolates. The product is produced completely using cacao fruit, and it has 40% less sugar than conventional dark chocolate. The company partnered with Cabosse Naturals to get the recycled cacao fruit pulp and peels for the product. Cabosse Naturals works directly with regional cacao fruit farming communities in Ecuador that are a part of the Cocoa Horizons sustainability program.
  • Feb 2022: A range of glazed luxury chocolates was introduced by Made By Two, an artisanal chocolate boutique. The product line offers distinctive flavors, striking colors, and noteworthy detailing. It is influenced by art, form, and design.
  • In June 2022, The chewy candy company HI-CHEW partnered with Menchie's Frozen Yogurt in North America to launch a limited edition HI-CHEWTM Rainbow Sherbet Flavor frozen yogurt.
  • In June 2022, Yogurtland, a frozen yogurt company, introduced two new limited-time flavors for summer: strawberry mango sorbet and passion fruit mango tart. Yogurtland sells its Strawberry Mangonada cup exclusively online at yogurt-land.com, the Yogurtland app, and DoorDash. Online-exclusive cups and summer flavors are available at participating locations.
  • In June 2022, Danone North America launched its latest product Activia+ Multi-Benefit Probiotic Yogurt Drinks. Activia+ is an excellent source (20% DV) of vitamins C, D, and zinc to support the immune system and is packed with billions of live and active probiotics that help support gut health, 
  • April 2022: Gerber introduced an entirely organic plant-based line. A variety of organic pouches, snacks, and meals called Plant-tastic are manufactured solely from plant protein sources. The action follows Gerber's announcement in 2021 that it would work to produce more eco-friendly products. The Carbon Trust has certified Plant-tastic as carbon neutral.
  • March 2021: Sun-Maid Growers of California acquired Plum Organics, a premium, organic baby food and kids snack brand, from Campbell Soup Company. Plum Organics offers a wide range of product portfolios for organic foods and snacks to meet the nutritional needs of babies, tots, and kids. Plum Organics' products are certified organic and non-GMO.
  • January 2021: Hero Group acquired Baby Gourmet​, a Canadian organic meal and snack brand for babies and toddlers. The acquisition included Slammers Snacks, a Baby Gourmet-owned organic children's snacks brand. The financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
  • February 2022: MOWI launched new organic Scottish salmon on Ocado. MOWI expanded its range of products by launching two new organic salmon products independently verified by the Soil Association. The new MOWI Scottish salmon fillets (240g) and mild smoked Scottish salmon slices (100g) are available on Ocado.com.
  • January 2022: Organic Sea Harvest, a Skye-based organic salmon producer, launched a newly created plastic-free, compostable packaging solution for the packaging of organic salmon.
