  • In April 2022: Linde signed a long-term agreement to supply helium to the United States from Freeport LNG's production site in Texas. For this, Linde will construct a new helium processing plant to purify and liquefy recovered helium.
  • In January 2022: Air Liquide announced a long-term agreement to supply ultra-high purity hydrogen, helium, and carbon dioxide to one of the world’s largest semiconductor manufacturers. Air Liquide plans to invest nearly 60 million U.S. dollars to build, own and operate onsite plants and systems at a new manufacturing site in Phoenix, Arizona, in support of this new agreement.

  • July 2022: Air Products and VPI (a power generator company) signed a joint development agreement for driving the “Humber Hydrogen Hub” or “H3”, which seeks to develop an 800 MW low-carbon hydrogen production facility in Immingham, United Kingdom.
  • June 2022: BASF and Shell evaluated and de-risked BASF’s Puristar R0-20 and Sorbead Adsorption Technology for green hydrogen production. The two technologies will purify and dehydrate the product hydrogen stream from the water electrolysis process that can be used for liquefaction and transportation.
  • June 2022: Equinor and SSE Thermal jointly acquired Triton Power by purchasing the company from Energy Capital Partners (ECP) to contribute to decarbonization in the United Kingdom. The purchase includes the Saltend Power Station, a conventional combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) plant that uses natural gas as feedstock with an installed capacity of 1.2 GW. Equinor and SSE Thermal are preparing the plant to use up to 30% hydrogen from 2027, with an ambition of 100% hydrogen operation.

  • April 2022: Source Energy Services has an agreement with Canadian Silica Industries Inc. and Contractor’s Leasing Corp. Through this agreement, the company concluded the operation of its Peace River frac sand facility and increased its frac sand production with additional 400,000 metric tons, which will boost the company’s business.
  • In January 2023, Technip Energies was awarded a contract for the modernization of sulfur recovery equipment at Aramco's Riyadh Refinery as part of its long-term agreement with Aramco. In order to comply with stricter emission regulations for sulfur dioxide and to improve the performance of the existing three sulfur recovery units SRU, this contract covers the installation of three new tail gas treatment units TGT, with a recovery efficiency of more than 99.9%.
  • In April 2023. Valero Energy Corp (VLO.N) initiated the manufacturing on a new coker at its 335,000-barrel-per-day (bpd) Port Arthur, Texas, refinery. The restart of production of the new 55,000bpd coker follows the completion of the overhaul of the 115,000-bpd AVU-147 crude distillation unit. The unit uses hydrogen to remove sulfur from gas oil, gasoline and diesel feedstocks.
  • Jun 2023: BASF SE and Yara Clean Ammonia announced their collaboration for a joint study in order to develop and construct a world-scale low-carbon blue ammonia production facility with a total capacity of 1.2 to 1.4 million tons per annum with carbon capture in the US Gulf Coast region. Through this collaboration, the companies will serve the growing global demand for low-carbon ammonia.
  • May 2023: SABIC Agri-Nutrients Company and IFFCO announced their collaboration to bring 5,000 metric tons of certified low-carbon ammonia from Saudi Arabia to IFFCO for fertilizer production. This collaboration will enhance the company’s business in the studied market.
  • Mar 2023: CF Industries Holdings Inc. signed a definitive purchase agreement for the purchase of the Waggaman ammonia production facility from Incitec Pivot Limited, which has an annual capacity of 880,000 tons annually. Under this agreement, CF Industries will be able to provide 200,000 tons of ammonia annually for up to 25 years to its Dyno Nobel subsidiary.
  • Oct 2022: Nutrien Ltd planned a new “Clean Ammonia” plant and selected thyssenkrupp Uhde as its technology provider and partner. The new plant will have a capacity of 3,500 metric tons/day and be built at Nutrien’s Geismar, Louisiana, US facility. The construction of the plant is anticipated to start by the end of 2023.
  • March 2023: BASF announced plans to expand its polymer dispersions production capacity by adding a second production line at its site in the Daya Bay Petrochemical Industrial Park in Guangdong, China.
  • January 2022: The Bodo Möller Chemie Group and Evonik Industries announced a cooperation agreement for special binders and additives specifically for the paint and varnish industry and textile, leather finishing, and printing inks in East Africa. The collaboration for specialty chemicals will initially be for the East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, and Burundi. The products offered will be matting agents, antistatic additives, rheology agents, defoamers, wetting agents, tackifying agents, dispersants, silicone resins, and silicone-modified binders.
  • December 2022: CBMM announced a significant investment of USD 80 million to expand its niobium oxide capacity from 500 tons to 3,000 tons by 2024. Collaborating with Echion Technologies, CBMM plans to establish a niobium oxide facility at its Araxá plant in Minas Gerais, Brazil, aligning with its goal of achieving a niobium oxide capacity of 40,000 tons by 2030.
  • March 2022: CBMM formed a partnership with Horwin Brasil, a manufacturer of electric motorcycles, with the aim of enhancing access to clean energy and promoting electromobility in the nation. The agreement focused on applying a lithium-ion battery with Niobium in electric two-wheel vehicles. In this partnership, CBMM invested 70 million reais in 2022 and projected sales of 500 tons of niobium oxide. The company's target is to increase niobium product sales to 50,000 tons by 2030.
  • January 2022: Kymera International completed the acquisition of Telex Metals, a global supplier of tantalum, tungsten, and niobium particulates. This strategic acquisition will expand Kymera's business into tantalum and niobium materials.
  • October 2022: TotalEnergies signed an agreement with MG Motor to develop a new range of lubricants in Chile. The new product is expected to be MG Oil, the first MG Motor oil specially formulated for automobiles. This new product is expected to be manufactured entirely in Chile, which will likely help TotalEnergies strengthen its geographical presence there.
  • August 2022: Valvoline Inc. announced it is expected to sell its global products business to oil company Saudi Arabian Oil Co. for USD 2.65 billion in cash as the motor oil maker sharpens its focus on its retail services unit. Valvoline’s global products unit sells lubricants and other preventive maintenance products for light- and heavy-duty vehicles.
  • May 2023: Cemex made an announcement regarding the acquisition of a plant near Madrid, Spain, aimed at better-serving urbanization needs. The cement plant's primary purpose will be to supply lower-carbon Vertua cement for mortar production and will be a part of Cemex's Urbanization Solutions business. At full capacity, it is expected to reach a production of 100,000 metric tons.
  • May 2023: ACC and Ambuja Cement, the cement and building material companies of the diversified Adani Group, officially launched a cutting-edge Cement and Concrete Research & Development facility at Kalamboli, Navi Mumbai. This facility will serve as a platform for further improving product quality and addressing the difficulties faced by the cement and concrete industry.
