  • April 2021 - US-based retailer Amazon will set up a new African headquarters in Cape Town, South Africa. The government approved the proposed multipurpose development on 15 acres of land to boost the city's economy, with Amazon headquarters as the project's main tenant. Development is in stages and is expected to be completed within 3-5 years.
  • December 2021 - South Africa TFG Ltd expands the e-commerce business by purchasing Quench, an on-demand online shopping platform and last-mile delivery service. The acquisition will give the company access to fast and reliable delivery across the country.

  • March 2023: The US Federal Reserve’s digital payments system is expected to debut this year and is expected to create “a leading-edge payments system that is resilient, adaptive, and accessible. The system is expected to allow bill payments, money transfers such as paychecks and disbursements from the government, and other consumer activities to move more rapidly and at lower cost, according to the program’s goals.
  • January 2023: The Union Cabinet in India approved INR 2,600 crore for promoting the Rupay Debit Card and low-value BHIM UPI transactions.   • September 2022 - ProvidusBank, Mastercard, Interswitch, and Thales introduce contactless payments—tap-to-Pay transactions on mobile devices in Nigeria. Customers digitize their cards as a one-time setup by following the instructions on their banking app. After provisioning the card credentials to a mobile device, a cardholder may tap to pay by opening their banking app, selecting NFC payments, touching their phone at the Point of Sale, and entering their PIN to complete the transaction. They can also make secure in-app and e-commerce payments.
  • November 2022: To handle Santander's network of more than 1,700 ATMs in the UK, NCR Corp. increased its collaboration with Santander UK. The ATM software, transaction processing, cash management, monitoring, help desk, maintenance, and other tasks will all be handled by NCR.

  • February 2023: Switzerland's Spar and Avia launched Spar Express, an autonomous C-store that will be operational 24 hrs. Customers can also find hygiene products, car accessories, and perishable items like baked goods, fruit, vegetables, dairy products, meat, and beverages. This will be a fully automated store where customers scan a QR code with their smartphone at the entrance, scan chosen items with their mobile, and pay for their purchases using a card or any payment wallet like Apple Pay.

This collaboration is part of the bank's commitment to creating new and secure payment solutions, now available to all clients using Samsung smartphones.

Paytm will be connected to Citcon's worldwide payments network as part of this agreement, allowing multinational brands to take payments in India. Mondi will provide corrugated boxes and paper MailerBAGS for Modivo to use to package orders.
